I am wondering if I should get checked out by a doc., but don't want to waist his time and mine. So I am wondering if anyone could help with some advice. I thought I was hypoglycemic cause I feel sick and dizzy/shaky in the mornings before I eat. So I decided to buy a cheap glucometer and check it out. I was expecting really low, and in the morning before eating and without eating for 10 hours or more, it was 108. Is that high? too high? I am underweight and have a lot of other symptoms. I had one random reading of 138, which was weird cause I hadn't eaten much that day. Then, when I tested after meals, it was no higher than 127. What the heck is going on? Please help me with some expertise knoweledge if anyone knows. It is hard to be objective when you are dealing with yourself. Thank You!!!

  • The values you quote are not concerning for diabetes or hypoglycemia. Diabetes is a fasting blood sugar (i.e., nothing to eat for 10 hours) of greater than 126 or a random blood sugar greater than 200. Hypoglycemia is less than 60. Some people get low the symptoms you are talking about when they have not eaten for a number of hours for seemingly no reason. The best thing to do is to eat frequent, small meals.
