I sprained my ankle about 4 years ago and continued walking around on it. I had it x-rayed a month after I sprained it and nothing was wrong but I still had pain. Now my ankle is hurting a lot and I don't know why it is. It makes a cracking noise when I move it so I wrap it up every night. Does anyone know what could be the problem? I want to go to the doctor but I just want to make sure this pain isn't normal. Please help!!

  • Could it be gout? Do you eat alot of meat and proteins? If so black or bing cherries help. I had it this summer and bought the cherry concentrate in capsule form. It did go away.

  • I also have sprained the same ankle over a period of years and it has become weakened and unstable and easily injured. It pains me every once in awhile and my injury was last Feb. My suggestion is to wear a brace cus of the weakened structure of the ankle joint. If it continues to bother you, I wud see a specialist who deals with ligaments cus you might have to get the tendons etc tightened. I have left a link of the anatomy of the ankle joint so U can see whats goin on there http://arthroscopy.com/sp09005.htm Good luck hon As EvErCat
