I was having very bad problems in my mouth the whole time I wore my braces (2 YEARS) and I had swollen gums and bad sores in my mouth. The longer they stayed on the worse the symptoms became. Finally I went on my own against my orthodontists advice to the allergy doctor and got tested for metals. The tested showed I was highly reactive to nickel. My gums were completely swelled over my back teeth and my throat was swelled. The inside of my lips were filled with sores. I was like that for about 10 months. When the braces came off the swelling went down and the sores disapeared , it was the nickel. Now the braces have been off for a year but I'm still having problems with my gums they hurt just on the teeth where the bands went around. My denist says my gums are very healthy but they feel burned and im in pain every day. My tounge also feels burned where the band also touched and I had a sore for most of the time the braces were on. WHATS HAPPENING??? What can I do?Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
