Hi. My 54 year old husband has been going through it. He has been treated for abdominal pain for several years--then dx of diverticulitus. In the past 3 months, it's become much worse, constant severe pain, he says it feels like rayzor wire. He has diarrhea several times or more a day. Got the dx of IBS, was put on meds that made it worse. So off those meds. Lost 24 pounds in 4 weeks, then 14 in one week. Second cat scan (in 3 months) showed a very enlarged lymph node (Gastroenterologist said it did not look like it could be benign), and five "lumps" in the mesenteric. So, endoscopy with ultrasound and fine needle biopsy. And loads of blood work to rule out various cancers.
Got results today that the biopsy is benign, blood tests ok except indicators for pancreatic cancers were on the 'high side,' but not of concern.
Pain is severe, wakens him--usually manages to stay in bed less than 2 hours. Poor appetite, feels like he just can't eat. Very pale skin. This week, he's lost 8 pounds. He tells me he wishes he could bottle whatever it is for a weight loss treatment.
Now I'm waiting for a surgeon to call to do an exploratory. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
