All blood tests come back negative

Whatever my blood is tested for, always do the test results come back negative. Even if the doctor was pretty sure before it would be positive as all symptoms fit. E.g. if I eat potatoes, I get an anaphylactic shock but skin-scratch test for allergies revealed nothing.

This has happened so often for many tests/conditions in the past few years. Nothing has showed anything special.

At the moment I am waiting for auto-immune/lupus results but I am sure they will be negative, too.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Why could it be, everything is negative?

  • I'm not sure why the skin test was negative, but I've read about allergic reactions to potatos.

  • E.g. if I eat potatoes, I get an anaphylactic shock but skin-scratch test for allergies revealed nothing. What exactly happens during this 'anaphylactic shock' you mention? It's possible you don't have a true allergy but more of a sensitivity to the food in question. That would explain the negative test result.

  • Okay, there are several factors to consider here. Firstly, the allergens that are contained in potatoes which cause a reaction in some persons are all heat-sensitive, so unless you're eating them raw, then it's highly unlikely that your response is a direct result of eating potatoes. It should be mentioned here that certain products cross-react with foods like potatoes, tomatoes, etc., and the the most common cross-reaction is to latex. If you happen to utilize latex products and have not been tested for any reactivity then it may be that latex, or another cross-reactive product, is responsible for the rather peculiar outcome of the raster test. • Some times potatoes are green and you could be sensitive to that; also, they have a high level of pesticides so perhaps it could be the pesticides.
