For some years my gp has been telling me I have IBS. On co codamol for pain relief although pain is often worse at night. Also on HRT for the past eight years.Have had small purplish marks on top of arms and legs for approx.eight years. Suffered from fatigue and most recently the tips of my toes, soles of my feet, palms and fingers have been bright red, burning and painful, making walking difficult.Although the pain comes and goes but the discolouring remains. Also have tingling in the hands, legs and feet with aching painful muscles and lesser degree of joint pain. Night sweats(although HRT has been changed to no effect) and tiredness. Diagnosed with Vit d deficiency and more blood tests taken all which were negative, no anaemia and wbc count ok. I just want to feel well again and back to my usual bubbly self. Please help, where do I go from here? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Oh I might add that coelic screening was also negative.

  • Do you ever eat shellfish? Your symptoms sound exactly Callistin shellfish poisoning. The Callistin shellfish (Japanese Callista) is found primarily in Japan. Eating the whole shellfish can cause poisoning symptoms in humans. It is believed that the ovaries contain high levels of choline during spawning season which makes them toxic to humans. Have you noticed any itching, facial flushing, or uticaria? My secong guess would be an internal chemical burn. Symptoms vary depending on the type, quantity and strength of the chemical involved as well as the duration of the exposure to the chemical and promptness of treatment measures. Have you had any mouth swelling, drooling, or a hoarse voice? Chemical poisoning really does fit your symptoms well. Chemicals that can cause chemical poisoning include toxins and toxicants. Chemicals that are produced by living organisms are called toxins. There are a wide variety of toxins, including biotoxins, which cause biotoxin poisoning. Examples of biotoxins include snake venom, honey bee venom, and cyanotoxin, which is produced by blue-green algae. Have you had any wheezing?
