A few days after xmas i developed an outed ear infection but as i was away left it until the new yr before going to the docs. By the time i saw my GP on 7th jan my ear was swolled, red and sore so he prescribed me flucloxacillin but 72hrs later they had not worked ans the infection was much worse. I went back and saw a different doc but by this point my ear was so swolled she couldnt get thing in to have a look inside. She took a swab of the infected ear before looking in the other one which was also beginning to get sticky inside.
I was prescribed Trimethoprim and given Gentisone + Hyrocortisone drops. After a few days these started to work and my ear felt normal again but 2weeks later i woke up to find both ears sore and swollen however by the evening the were fine so i thought nothing of it. Last friday the same thing happened but this time it was monday morning before the swelling went down and the pain went.
Today when i woke up there was a big piece off black goo by the enterance of the ear canal, when i removed it gently with my finger i noticed the inside of my ear feels greasy but very hard which im sure isnt normal. I checked the other one and thats same. There both sore to touch but no swelling so far.
I was wondering if it would be safe to use the leftover drops until i can get to the docs on monday morning so they dont get any worse as i dont really want to call out of hours with it not being an emergancy or does it sound like i need to call and get more antibiotics.
Thanks in advance
