I have a nipple that is abnormally formed. It is not a single nipple, but little different sized bumps that I guess make up the nipple. So instead of having a normally formed nipple, I have a circle of bumps. Does anyone else have this or know what this is?

  • Without being able to see it, no one is going to be able to make a diagnosis - I do recommend that you see your doctor with your concern. It could be completely normal or not. That being said - a nipple is made up of lactating ducts(small bumps) arranged around a central tip. When erect or breastfeeding, the small bumps become more prominent. It sounds like you are fairly young - I always recommend that young women/men talk to their doctors about any questions that they have about their bodies. It is very important to understand how your body works and what is normal for you (each person is different) - so as you age, you will be able to notice what is abnormal. good luck

  • I was actually born with this. I was born with one nipple that the doctor described as all the milk ducts didn't come together to form the "normal" circular nipple. That one looks more round-ish. And the other one had formed into almost a J shape. I was also born with one breast a size larger than the other. So, a little over 10 years ago, my family helped me correct these issues surgically. The surgeon brings as much of the ducts together with suturing & cutting. Then threading them together to form one. The one that is less "normal" looking was trickier. It had to be cut more & such. There is no known name for this condition, yet, as far as I was told. Just told, it wasn't cancerous in my case (thank god), very rare (lovely), and probably genetic (thanks mom & dad). Basically, we were just born this way. I hope by now you have gotten it checked out & help to fix, if you wanted. It was very embarrassing for me. So I did. Best of luck!
