My Mom has been gradually getting larger around her stomach and hips, to an exterme for her size. She is careful of what she eats, and does not gain weight, only size. She also can't take anything tight around her stomach. She has type 2 diabetes and has had a major stroke. She is limited in activity due to nerve damage in her legs, so exercise is not viable. Can anyone tell us wht causes this and what can we do for it? Her regular doctor just says diet and execise. I know this has to be affecting her heart and other issues, and also puts a lot of extra strain on her legs. Is there a name for this and can it be treated?

  • Diabetes causes weight gain in the mid-section. Your mother is probably an apple shaped woman. So when she gains any weight, it accumulates in the mid-section. There is a supplement available online(Have her check with doctor first) called Hydroxycut. Here is the webpage http://musclesurf.com/hydroxycut.html Since she has diabetes, it is important to check with doctor first. Also, try the South beach diet. DO NOT Take carbs completely out of the diet, but instead eat the low GI carbs. Stay away from white flour products, potato. Instead try barely, oat, wheat. That helped me lose belly fat.
