We are awaiting EEG and MRI. In the meantime, I am looking for advice and ideas as to what may be causing these alarming symptoms:
Within the past two months, my daughter has experienced these new and unusual symptoms:
-two episodes of tingling, burning throat (no swelling, can't make any relation to food). One took us to the ER b/c it got extreme. All symptoms completely disappeared within an hour.
-tingling and or numbness in fingers and face several times/week (symptoms to not get severe and go away within minutes).
-fuzzy vision, spots in eyes, followed by one-sided headache (appears to be migraine with aura), about 1X/week.
-One migraine was so bad her hand was burning, she couldn't speak clearly or walk properly. We went to ER. She was screaming and grabbing her forehead. After about 1/2 an hour she threw up (a lot!) and felt a lot better.
-she is on Risperidone and Zoloft. These are not new to her system.
-She has "Sotos Syndrome".
-I suspected tics when she was a baby and still do now, but I was always "written off" by the doctors. They did try to do an EEG when she was younger, but her behaviour was too bad to do it. She also had an MRI as a toddler which showed some extra fluid in part of the brain (which is apparently common in Sotos kids and usually poses no threats.)
-Any thoughts at all?! I am leaning towards a seizure or brain problem rather than food allergy...but I am scared.
