Please help with any suggestions that you can. We have an 8 month old boy who has been in hospital for a couple of months, has had a feeding tube and special formula to try to get him to put on weight (not working), he has failure to thrive, doesn't sit, doesn't hold his head up properly, has poor muscle tone. Cried a lot when he was very young but that has subsided, he has had so many blood tests done all negative, MRI's CT scans - the doctors are struggling. Please if anyone has heard of anyone else with these symptoms please let me know. He is a happy little boy who can see and hear well and can drink from his bottle. He doesn't make any attempt to push out any waste (poo) but cries after a few days so needs medical intervention to clear. He has with help from a physio started to roll over onto his tummy but does not put any weight on his legs at all.
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

  • I came across your post and while I have no answer for you, I would like to pray for your little boy. I have two children myself, and I can't imagine what you must be going through. We will be praying for your precious little boy and your family for wisdom, strength and health. God bless you and if you get a ever moment, please let me know how he is doing. My child had those issues (wouldnt weight bear on feet and needed medical intervention to poo..she couldnt go other wise) due to neurological problems. She had no feeling in certain body parts eg around her anus and lacked some sensation in her feet. She was two and still not walking or crawling by the time that got found out. Due to this Im wondering if a neurologist has checked your child out and tested out your childs ability to feel things properly in the lower body regions? Take your child to a neurologist to rule this possibility out.................. Also im noting that your babe is getting treated differently to what mine was... my daughters gastro specialists always said it was best to get her to go to toilet (eg with enema if the medications didnt work) on a daily bases as it's then easier to make happen then leaving it longer. Not doing so.. can also end up stretching the bowel over time and then even less feeling there. I do hope your babe is seeing a good gastro specialist.

  • Has a geneticist looked at your son? I would ask for a genetics consult.
