My mom, 51, has been going through shear ***l for going on 5 yrs and still no diagnosis. She needs helps NOW! We feel like we are watchin her die right in front of our eyes and there's nothing we can do about it. Please help, we are desparate for answers! Here is her story.
In Oct. 2006, my mom began having flu-like symptoms, vomiting and a very bad headache. When my Dad came hom for lunch she told him she was going to lay down and take a nap and to wake her up when he got home @ 430p. When he arrived home he could not wake her and called 911. They had to do the sternal rub to get her to respond. She was admitted to a level 1 trauma center they could find nothing wrong. From that point on she had horrible migraines, very very dibilitating, at least 3-5/wk!!! It came to a point wher no meds were working. She was on 60 meds/day at one point!!! She was also being admitted to the hospital all the time to control the pain (over 50x/ in one yr)!!! She then started developing blood clots for unknown reasons. She developed an enlarged heart and has been in acute renal failure twice! She even coded at one point in the hospital! Still all the tests showed nothing! Over the past year and a half, she's had tremendous swelling beginning in her legs and now are in all her joints. When the swelling begins, she has trouble urinating. She has a pain pump in her back for 2 herniated discs. She has high bloodpressure and cholestrol now and is on meds for that. She had her thyroid removed at age 16. She's also had a complete hystorectomy and partial colon ressection (both about 25 yrs ago). She has been to Loyola Medical Center, U of I Chicago, and Barnes in St. Louis. She's been through dozens of different doctors and specialist and tests. Still no answers!!! She's currently in the hospital for the 2n time this month with severe swelling of the feet, legs, and hands, phlebitis in both legs and a severe migraine! IV lasix works for the time being, but the swelling comes back within a week of being off the IV! They do have her on 40 mg Lasix at home which isn't doing anything! She is very fatigued all the time, has gained about 80 lbs but has a very healthy diet (no she doesn't use Splenda either). I'm an RN and absolutely cannot believe that we cannot find a doctor that will sit down an look at all my Mom has been through in 5 years. There is something going on connecting all of these symptoms. PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!!
