A friend of mine is currently in Orange County, CA, Children's Hospital where her daughter who is 5 years old was suffering from Pneumonia which has now put her in a coma, she was braindead for 15minutes then started breathing again but the doctors are saying today the 5th day she is in a coma, that there's nothing more they can do for her to turn her machines off and let her die.
I'm sure there is someone out there that can DO something for little KC I've heard of so many stories of doctors helping and patients especially children recovering from the same condition.

Please someone out there if you know where we can take KC or get another opinion of someone who wants to try to help her get better please please help us. She is located in California, Orange County.

Kindest of Regards

  • I don't live in the USA and can't advise other than say I think you would be hard pressed to find a worse hospital. You can't be brain dead for 15 minutes. Brain death is irreversible. What has happened is that she stopped breathing for quarter of an hour. Even if they were measuring her brain activity, it is quite possible for this not to register for a while. Although the 5 days has probably seemed like an eternity to your friend, it is not long at all to be in a coma. The little girl is obviously very sick and the hospital should be trying to help her recover rather than kill her. It sounds if it would be unwise to move her at this stage, but I would have no hesitation in advising the 'kindly' doctors what would happen to them if they didn't pull their fingers out (this case would be a lawyers delight). What your friend needs is a proposed plan of action and not one of inaction. Let us know how she gets on.
