I have been suffering from a multitude of diffuse symptoms since April 2003. The first symptoms were irregular heartbeat, dizziness, sever backpain, digestive problems, difficulty swallowing, night sweats, sleeping less than 2 hours a night and the list goes on. As the months passed, some of these symptoms disapated but then the muscle problems set in. Almost 4 years later I am virtually disabled unable to dress myself or perform normal daily functionsuch less work. I have lost weight and am visibly wasting away. I am stiff as a board in my spine and can barely lift my arms to feed myself. Repetitive motion is impossible. My neck and back are so stiff that I can not turn my head or twist my body. I spent the first 2 1/2 years seeing doctors. Mayo Clinic, U of M, as well as doctors in my own clinic. I have seen specialists in 14 different areas including neurology, rhuemotology and infectious disease as well as more homeopathic doctors. I have been tested for just about everything anyone could think of but all my tests have come back negative. I am now at a point where going back to a doctor is nearly imposssible as the car trip alone would do me in.
I was a 39 year old healthy man. Prior to this happening, I had strepp throat twice as a teenager - that's it! I never had to see a doctor. I enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with my family (yes I've been tested for Lyme and related diseases) and loved life.
I'm beginning to think I'm cursed. has anyone ever heard of somethig like this happening??
Running out of time and seeking an answer...

  • In answer to your question - yes! What sounds like the exact same thing is happening to my boyfriend and he's been sick for 4 years as well, with test after test and no answer. He now has problems concentrating and doesn't go online much anymore, which is why I've taken over and am writing this. He is almost immobile with joint and other pain at this point and his doctors are checking him into the hospital next week because they want to monitor what is happening internally when he has night sweats or when he gets swollen or any other changes. He was a healthy 23 year old before he got sick, and was an outdoor guy, so he's been tested particularly for all sorts of lyme disease-type problems too, but to no avail. Now he continues to lose weight and not absorb or digest anything and is getting weaker and weaker. I suppose I wrote this because I wanted you to know that there is another person out there with the same problem who feels alone (he often tells me how lonely it is to be undiagnosed and ill) - even if I can't help you by providing any answers for you. Good luck to you.

Running out of time and seeking an answer... That's terrible! And you would think at least one doctor would know. I know this can't give you a real diagnosis, but It seems better than what the doctors are giving you. Try www.yourdiagnosis.com maybe it will give you ideas to bring up to your doctors. If the pain you are experiencing gets bad again, go to the hospital. Severe pain is never good. I wish I could help you, but the only Ideas i'm getting is what they already tested you for. Get well soon!
