I am a 38yr old male and i have always had just one testicle. It has not bothered me til now as i have read on the internet that is not that i never had two balls but that the missing one is still inside me somewhere.
Aparently i should have had surgery when still a child to bring it down to the scrotum but never did.
Now is am worried - need i be? Can i safely ignore this?

  • The reason that they are supposed to hang down is to regulate the temperature for the sperm in order to produce ideal conditions for reproduction. If you've had kids succesfully then I don't see a problem. If you haven't and are planning to then I'd see a doc about it to be sure.

  • I don't know if you should be worried or not. To me, it has been that way for 38 years so one would think that it is not a major concern. I am not a Doctor though. If you wanted to have children etc it may be. When my grandson was around 10 years old (a year ago) he had surgery to bring one of his down. He is okay now! I guess the best thing to do is consult with a Doctor if this is a concern to you. Good luck!!

  • I don't have any children and have no plans to have any. My worry is the possibility of testicular cancer if i do nothing about the missing testicle.

  • UPDATE: I went to see my doctor today and he said that most likely the testicle has shriveled away deep in my abdomen and there is no serious risk of cancer. However, as a precausion he is sending me to a specialist for a scan to make sure i dont have reason to worry. I will be back with an update on how that goes.

Has three children all perfect:-)One son, then 13, had a testicle not 'dropping' - was noticed, helped down, and OK to go. No relation to cancer .Missing testicle is SO common, he was told. Good luck. Peg
