Hi everyone,
I've had all these symptoms for atleast a year and a half, in and out of the doctors office and ERs with no answers. I'm only 21 and i'm afraid everyone is starting to think i'm a hypochondriac!! Its gotten to the point where i can't function anymore and almost lost my job. I know this is a lot so I'll try my best to make some sense for you guys..

August 2007, woke up one morning shaking uncontrolablly and feeling like i had the flu. I did not feel sick any days leading up to this. Constant vomiting, nausea, fever up to almost 104F. this lasted a week, and i hardly have any memory of it. went to urgent care and got iv fluids because I was dehydrated and a shot to stop the nausea/vomiting. i can't remember what else they did.
October 2007, same exact thing as first time. went to urgent care again and they did the same thing as the last time. i was getting worse so my dad dragged me into the ER. they also did what urgent care did, the only thing different i can remember was they ran tests and weren't sure what i had, couldn't say for sure it was the flu.
lost 15 lbs in 1 week both times, and being 130lbs it seems like a lot to me.
i also think i've been losing a lot of hair, clumps of it coming out whenever i shower, brush & blowdry my hair, to the point of clogging the shower a couple times..
I started feeling alright for a while, definately not anywhere near 100%. then it started all over again about 7 months ago, but new problems and they have not gone away since.

New symptoms

constant terrible knee pain (front and back). doesn't matter what i'm doing, walking, working, sitting, and trying to sleep. I did have xrays and an mri on my right knee September 08 and it came up clear (do not understand why!!)
sudden sharp shooting wrist, ankle, and finger pain.
sudden sharp chest pain only on the left side
i would rate all my pain from 8-10
dizziness, light-headed, just plain weird feeling.
blurred vision
nausea, vomiting (vomiting isn't as often anymore)
loss of appetite
feeling tired all the time, even waking up
night sweats (new within last 2-3 months)
bad headaches lasting atleast 3 days
blue toes
Abdominal pain
Neck pain and stiffness ( can't move it at all)
Dry, itchy rashes on upper arms, hands, stomach and upper chest.
I also had a CT of my abdominal area and the only thing that came up was ovarian cysts.
That's all i can remember right now, its so many different things its ridiculous. The last few times in the dr's office and ER i got anything from appendicitis to gall bladder problems.
I really don't know what to do anymore, and if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. if there are any other questions i can answer, please ask!

Thanks.

  • This sounds like post-infection fatigue syndrome, or also known as "chronic fatigue." Try here: http://www.cdc.gov/cfs/

  • Randomly came across this and was wondering if you found out what's going on? If you haven't, have you looked into possible vitamin deficiencies or vitamins that for some reason your body is no longer absorbing? For example, a vitamin B12 deficiency. I use deficiency lightly as there are many diseases, such as Imerslund-Gräsbeck syndrome where it is simply not a go and get some vitamins from the drugstore fix.I'm curious to see if you have found any answers.

Thanks.I completely agree with Chronic Lyme, I know, cause I have it. I have a co-infection called Babesia that gives major stiff neck problems. Babesia is a parasite that loves to hang out in the brain, neck and eyes, hence your blurred vision, head and neck pains. Night sweats are also common. You need a western Blot fro lyme and ALL co-infections. I have a Lyme Blog that I just started: lymeball.com I write about how I got diagnosed, and all the treatment I am currently on. Please feel free to go to my site and ask me questions. Lyme Disease is more common than you think. Watch "Under Our Skin" it's an eye opening documentary. I know how you feel. I even have arthritis, and many more symptoms. I was called a hypochondriac for many years. I just barely, FINALLY, got my answer! GOOD LUCK
