My 2 yr old son has been pretty sick for nearly 3 weeks now. Symptoms began on Mon. Aug 2 with Diarrhea and persistan fever of around 103. By Thursday Aug 5 he woke up with swollen lymphnodes on right side of the jaw. Took him to the Dr. at this point and he was put on an antibiotic (thinking bacterial infection caused the lymphnodes to swell) and figured diarrhea and fever were due to a stomach bug. Friday Aug. 6 Julian began having stomach pains everytime the fevers started. I'd give him Motrin and all symptoms would dissapear. I should also add that he had some weird pimple like bug bite things, one on his thigh, one under his eye. By Sunday Aug 8 syptoms were still going on and as a mother, I got scared for my child. The Dr. asked me to stop giving him the antibiotic as the stomach pain may be a bad reaction. Monday came and he was still having the stomach pain every 6 hours with fever. Why isn't this going away? Why is he still hurting? I called his Dr the next day and demanded something be done. Tests for Mono, strep, flu, and a number of other things was done. They all came back negative and we were sent to a nearby Childrens Hospital on Wed. This was the last day we saw any diarrhea. Ultra sounds were done to look at his appendix and other organs. All that was found was swollen lymphnodes in the intestines which I guess is a common sign of a virus being present. Since the dirrrhea was gone we were sent home assuming this "virus" was clearing on it's own. This leaves us on Friday morning. At home, treating this on our own. It continued all weekend and well into Monday. I again called his Dr. and more blood work was done testing again for Mono, Lyme and Cat scratch Fever. We were also sent back to the childrens hospital where they could provide us better care. More ultrasounds, a Ct Scan, urine tests and NOTHING is found. The lymphnodes on his jawline are back to normal, the lymphnodes in his intestines are still swollen, stomach pain along with high fever every 6-8 hours. All symptoms completly dissapear with a dose of Motrin. We are now sitting in our hospital room and it is Saturday Aug. 20. Still waiting on Cat Scratch Fever results. The Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialists believe it will come back positive but I am still very scared. I have not read anything about anyone having such tummy problems while suffering this disease. As a mother, it is killing me to watch my 2 year old son go through this, and it terrifies me not having it "fixed" already.
Has anyone experienced stomach problems like this? I also haven't read anything about swollen lymphnodes in intestines with this disease. How long should I be expecting to help my son get over this? Dr. says it can last up to a month sometimes longer.... But I'd like to hear from someone who has gone through it personally...

A desperate mother
