I have had periods of muscle weakness, pain when flexing, extreme morning stiffness and almost constant fatigue, for 2 years. The attacks are getting more frequent.
My attacks affect different muscles, but the most affected are my legs, hip flexors, hands, wrists, chest and some times my abs and my lower back.
My potassium drops and my ck levels go up to 900 per unit of blood. I take potassium supplements, my potassium and CK levels are normal now but still feel weak and painful.
I was told i have hypokalemic periodic paralysis and was give diamox. i had the worst attack while on diamox i had to be taking to emergency in a wheelchair (I couldn't stand on my own power)
I was told my red blood cell count was a little high and my thyroid was a lilttle bit low. The doctors didnt seem to be too concerned.
In the past week i noticed my tongue was starting to be swollen and have swelling at the base of my neck on each side of my throat but not in my throat (it feels like I'm getting choked but i can breath normal) Antihistamines have little effect.
My doctors dont know what to do. Can anyone give ideas what i may have?
aspirin seems to help a little bit (just enough so i can walk around for a little while) with my muscles, but i still feel so tired
p.s i also have IBS
