My son, 12 years old, is presenting with pain in his right side upper quadrant, chest and abdomen areas. He has had a chest x-ray, which came back clean, he has had blood tests testing the function of his appendix, kidneys, liver, gall bladder, and pancreas. All of these came back clean. He has also had an EKG that ruled out any abnormalities with his heart. It is a burning/stabbing pain that can be made worse by lying down and it varies in intensity. Pushing on his stomach/chest makes it hurt worse also, meaning it is a "reproducible" pain. He has had all of the symptoms mentioned for 6 days now. He has started throwing up a couple times a day since yesterday.
There is no known things to run in either sides of his family. We have had him seen by 4 doctors now and they are stumped. They said they don't know what is wrong with him and have decided to just do pain management until Friday when they will do a follow up. They want us to use motrin and Tylenol-3 w/ codeine that they prescribed 3 days ago for at night. (EDIT: He also had a CBC panel run yesterday, and it came back perfectly normal.)
Any clue what this could be?
