I broke my right acetabular in a car accident on 10-4-2010. I under went surgery on 10-8-2010 and had a plate and 8 pins inserted.Dr. F. Wilson with Ochsner Hosp. in New Orleans was my surgeon. One of 2 surgeons in the state to do traumatic trauma surgery on acetabular fractures. I was kept in hospital 11 days and started pt in hospital 2 days after surgery. I was sent home with no weight bearing for 3 months, and since this was a workmans comp claim I had PT ordered at home...the pt I received at home was all in bed therapy. Now 2-1-2011 I am now waiting on WC to approve pt at Tulane Hosp....I am an impatient person and started putting weight on my leg by walking with my walker . I cannot walk on leg with out my walker....(have you ever had your hip just give out when you mis step , well that's how my hip feels).I am having some pain but not much....The most pain I am suffering is with my knee, and muscles in my right leg...Also since all the weight was put on my left leg my hip burns when walking...The problem I find I'm having is with my gait.....I cannot complete a step with my leg as the pain prevents me from doing so...Hopefully PT can help me with this problem...I really don't want to have a limp.....Hope everyone out there that are dealing with this injury are doing well and on the road to recovery.
