Hi,

I'm 25 and have been having BIG problems with my body. I was told last week that I had SVT after wearing a 30 day event monitor. I think there is more going on then this because I have so many symptoms that are unaccounted for.

I have done test after test and everything comes back normal/negative. The only answers I have got were from monitors. My doctors don't know what's causing these extra symptoms. I feel lost and frustrated and don't know what to do?

My next step was to get a second opinion from an EP doctor.

  • Hi my name is Chris, and I was waring an event monitor during Dec of 2006. I was told today from my doctor that I have SVT also. I feel the same way as you , test after test and your fine nothing is wrong. I felt like every one was thinking I was making it all up. I need to know more about how people feelduring the time of attack. Cause I can't seem to find the right info.

  • I can give you ex. of my symptoms if that will help. I feel lightheaded and dizzy at times my heart is beating too fast. I get clammy hands and feel flushed. If I do too much I often feel like I'm going to faint. I get shortness of breath when I do anything other then sitting on my butt ;) There is different types of SVT so it's important to find out what type you have. The symptoms will probably be the same though. I have tons of info, I just need to find out where I copied it from so I can lead you to the same info. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. I can only offer you support not medical advice, but I'll gladly tell ya my opinions. :) I'm still in the same boat I was in when I posted 2 weeks ago.Hang in there Chris............your not alone Amber

  • I have the same problems! I am 30. I fainted twice in my late teens, early 20's - no explanation. Fainted again a year ago, just because I stood up too fast. Dr. said it was because of low blood pressure. A couple months ago, I started having episodes. Weird, spasmatic heartbeats then a BIG heartbeat (I could feel the "boom" with my hand on my chest). pain, fatigue, shortness of breathe, dizziness, lots of headaches. and NO answers. Went to ER because I couldn't breath and I was having chest pains. Had EKG, normal. they told me it was an anxiety attack and put me on Xanax. Went to GP next day and had an episode in his office. Did another EKG and caught some things. Holter monitor for one week - caught a LOT of things, including resting heartrate in the 90s and up to nearly 200 during episodes plus it would jump up and cause an episode just for walking up half a flight of stairs carrying a laundry basket. Cardiologist told me it was SVT. I don't buy it. it's not just a fast heartbeat. it's irregular, weird, not at all comfortable. He put me on Metoprolol. I don't like it. my blood pressure is low anyway, usually around 90/60 and the beta blocker makes it lower, which makes me feel worse, but I'm having less episodes. I guess it's time to start looking for 2nd and 3rd opinions. You are the only person I've found with anything even similar to what I'm going through. please email me Tancy@centurytel.net

  • Hey there, I emailed you....hang in there, I'm just finding out that I don't have SVT (or so a second opinion said so) I was told "We don't know what's wrong, I'm sorry." I'm supposed to hear back from the Dr office around Tuesday. Next step is to see an EP specialist.Take care,Amber

  • Don't know if anyone is still reading these, but take heart (if you'll pardon the pun).I was diagnosed with SVT a few months ago after years of being made to feel that I was making things up or just experiencing anxiety attacks.I experience many of the same symptoms you all did (increased heart rate, dizzyness, difficulty breathing, etc.), but, when I described them to my doctor, I got blank stares. They kept telling me I was too young for a heart attack. One even went so far as to do blood work, and she told me there was no sign in the testing that I'd experienced a heart attack. Then I got lucky. I was at the doctor's office during an attack. They brought me down to the ER and a cardiologist told me what was happening. I was experiencing one attack after another. They put me on a calcium channel blocker that helped. Then, eventually, I had the catheter ablation surgery. Have only had one attack since, and it was a small one. There's some great info on You Make My Heart Race.

  • Hi guys,I was diagnosed last year with SVT although I'm also worried it could be something more, I'm 18 and I'm really active I run everyday etc but whilst I'm running I've noticed my heart is very irregular and uncomfartable with really fast beats then like a thud its horrible. Also I noticed someone had said that a hangover makes your heart much worse! I am also the same! If I have had a drink when I come home and go to bed my hearts all over the place and sometimes I'm unable to sleep with it. And the next day is also extremely uncomfartable. Also I had to go to Accident and Emergency as my heart was beating way too fast and when i was put on the monitor my heart beats were way up at over 200.I hate it, wish they would just stop. If anyone else has similar experiences please share them with me.

  • My daughter 16 has been diagnosed with svt also extreme fast heart rate everyday periodically throughout the day start out only 1030-12 than graduated to more often sometimes more intense than others... blood pressure also drops low and makes it even worse and feeling depressed and list less. He heart beat started racing daily when still and working at school (no not a difficult class). than started doing it throughout the day ... very painful. still trying to continue sports but makes it difficult. sometimes it lessens and sometimes it is worse when she is up and moving. blood pressure is more difficult to keep up....trying salt and added nutrients... seems to be helping some with the blood pressure side affect but not so much the chest pain.Hi guys,I was diagnosed last year with SVT although I'm also worried it could be something more, I'm 18 and I'm really active I run everyday etc but whilst I'm running I've noticed my heart is very irregular and uncomfartable with really fast beats then like a thud its horrible.
