i've been suffering with skipped beats for 4yrs now, it feels like my heart stops then next minute a big bang and a kind on weird tickle feeling in my throat. it also feels like my heart is fluttering. i get palpitations, dizziness, tired and headaches when this happens. my finger nails , toes and lips go blue when i'm cold and trigger my skipped beats. i'm 25 and fit and healthy. i've had tests as they found a murmur but came back fine but i never once got the skipped beats during this time? does this make a difference? i've been to ER a few times as i've had bad attacks and was told i have a racing heart??? it was doing 150 per min. can anyone help me understand why i get these if my tests say i'm ok. the doctors make me feel like a pain in the neck to them if i talk to them about it and that it's all in my head. please help
sarah

  • this is always a problem with all intermittent faults.if it doesnt show up when the doc is listening,it cant be investigated.the solution is to ask if you can be fixed up to a portable e.c.g. device---you would have contacts taped to you ,like an astronaut!and carry it round with you for a weekend, perhaps while it recorded your heartbeat.what is wrong?---this sort of thing is very often a matter of anxiety.but it is just possible you have a slight arrythmia.these things are usually quite easy to cope with, though sometimes a (very)minor operation is required, involving access to the heart via the femoral artery.---local anaesthesia only and out in a few days!----yes i know, the trouble with the anxiety hypothesis is that if you feel you have a heart problem, you are obviously going to feel some fear ,so it can be difficult sorting out which came first.you could try treating as anxiety while waiting for your e.c.g. it would do no harm!keep smiling and ask for the facts to be checked.
