Reduced Left Ventricular Capacity

I suffered an MI in 1986.
Have been asymptomatic since and remain so.
Cardiac profusion test for a PCV driving licence last month revealed that I had only 17% Left ventricular capacity.

Does anyone know whether this is likely to be a result of scarring or some other form of degeneration and or whether capacity may be increased by exercise?

If so by what sort of order?
