Okay so over a month ago I was diagnosed with hypertension. 160/100. Always had perfect pressure all my life - 130/80. Ive dealt with a lot of stressful things in the past year. The doc immediately gave me meds (2 meds, water pill and beta blocker). NEVER taken meds for anything before. Had some serious side effects but IM okay now.
Spoke to my fam doc back home (as I moved away) and he says he would never have given me meds right away like that because of my age, and without any testing. Ive had all the testing done - blood work, ekg, urinalysis etc. Everything fine. I eat well, go to the gym 4-5 times a week, but I am about 30 lbs overweight. So I gotta lose this weight.
So I went to another doc here he also told me to stop the meds as my bp is now back to 130/80. He also says 160/100 is not that high (3rd doc to tell me that) especially since Im stressed/have slight anxiety.
I also found out high blood pressure can increase your chance of stroke and heart attack by 1% (this was told to me by my naturopath and psychiatrist) in the span of 10 years. So Im not worried.
What worries me NOW is whether to stop taking the meds or not and...the worst...I could not have an orgasm yesterday for the first time with my boyfriend and it FREAKED ME OUT. I am ALWAYS able to and usually have a huge sex drive! This time...NOTHING. And I know these meds can kill your libido!!!!!! Im ONLY 29!!!! I am supposed to be at my peak!!!!!
What do I do!??!?!?!?!?!
I always HATED traditional medication. ALWAYS. So now Im really scared it caused some permanent damage to my sex drive amongst other things I dont even know about.:(
ANY advice would help!!!!
