I am a 52 year old male who has valvular heart disease effecting all four valves in my heart. At my last visit to my Cardiologist, he informed me that due to my many symptoms, (shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness), that heart surgery was indicated. Since he is not a practicing surgeon, he was unsure as to what approach the Doctor performing the surgery would use (what valves would be replaced and which ones would be repaired.)
After having a complete kidney work up done, (it was being offered free of charge by the Kidney Foundation), I spoke with the attending Urologist concerning not only the results of the Kidney work up, but also my impending heart surgery. After reading my medical history, he informed me that since I also had several other physical illnesses and with the complexity of such a surgical procedure, (referring to the heart valve repair and/or replacement), the likelihood of survival would be slim.
Does anyone know of any hospital in the area of the Northeastern U.S., that is more advanced in complex cardiac surgical procedures? and who also have a good success rate? Any help would be appreciated.
