  • Hey all,I'm josh a 17yr old male.. i'm an average athletic guy, I play football, baseball and basketball for my high school. Anyways, I always thought I was in good phyisical shape, I lifted and ran/jog almost everyday. About 2 months ago now I started experiancing skipped heart beats, and I couldn't workout without feeling like I was going to die! I passed out in the lockeroom one day so my coach took me to the near-by hospital. The doctors said I was fine. So I went home. My dad is actually a doc too lol. He said I was fine also...BUT It keep happening. I was getting really stressed out and having freakouts because I always was scared my heart would stop. So I finaly saw a cardiologist. I went to the doctor they did all these tests on me, running test, EKG, ext...and nothing was wrong..So they put me on a holter monitor for 5 days. I recorded ALOT of the skipped beats over the 5 days and when I took it back they said it was normal. I was like...what the ***lSo after all that...in a last ditch effort I saw my pediatric doc. He did an examination and blood work and all that non-since. And after all of that...he told me he wanted to examine my vocal cords. And then I thought he was crazy, but I let him look, and i found out i have vocal cord dysfunction! He explained to me my vocal cords close up and I can't get enough oxygen into my lungs, and my heart reacts to the lack of oxygen by skipping! So I went and saw a speach theropist and I'm back to normal! I can workout without skipping of my heart and i feel better than ever! I really hopes this helps because I thought I was going to die cause of a bad heart and I really was depressed. But when I found out it was only vocal cord dysfuntion I was SO releaved. Thanks for reading!Josh

  • I had these for an entire year, and my doctor was rude and abrupt with me and just said "it's your anxiety, don't worry about it". I am a bit of a hypochondriac so I tried to just talk myself out of it. This past summer I went on vacation to visit my family and my aunt was shocked to hear I had never been to a chiropractor. She used to have the same "heart blips" as me. I went to a chiropractor, and truth be told, it changed my life. I still have tiny little skips every now and then, but I rarely notice them. Also, I would advise anyone with heart problems like this to start taking Calcium Magnesium Supplements. I beleive these also helped me. The chiropractor thing seems completely unrelated, but when they did a scan of my spine, there were a lot of discs that were so far out that I was shocked. I never really feel back pain but that's not what the problem was. When your discs are that far out of line they begin to cause problems with the surrounding nerves. One of my discs that was extremely out is DIRECTLY related to anxiety and heart disorders. I did many tests on my heart (24hr monitor, etc) and nothing came up. But now that I have started taking the Cal-Mag and going to the chiropractor, I feel great. Just thought I should tell people, because I know I got myself all worried while looking through health forums and never finding a conclusive answer.

With me its very very short only 1 to 3 seconds, it then sometimes feels as if someone is softly pressing om my chest. The last only happens rarely. Btw i'm only 17, so i don't think its anything medical of physical. Its when you're stressed out or feel bummed about something. (with me that is)Gr

It feels like I am on a roller coaster. It only bugs me when it does it 2 or 3 times a minute and I have gotten light headed before. I am 48
