Tolvaptan is Indicated for the treatment of clinically significant blood disorder and low sodium in the body including patients with heart failure, cirrhosis, and Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH). The use of tolvaptan was noted to increase excretion of excess fluids and improve blood sodium levels in patients with heart failure without producing side effects such as low blood pressure or decreased blood levels of potassium and without having an adverse effect on kidney function.
