I am a 58 year woman that was recently diagnosed with Aortic Valve Stenosis. The ultrasound was ordered due to my complaint of being out of breath, pulse in my eardrum and inability to do any physical exertion without being out of breath. Shortly after that diagnosis it was discovered by my G.P. that I was severely Anemic (Hemoglobin 5.0) and admitted to hospital immediately for transfusions (4 bags). Is it possible that my AVS diagnosis could be a misdiagnosis due to the severe Anemia?
