Constant Head Pressure

Has anyone had constant head pressure? Like your head is going to explode? I've had this for a couple years now. I am going to a Neurologist now and he says it will take a long time that my blood vessels in my head are inflamed. I am on several medications, which has helped, but I still feel the pressure daily, but not as intense now.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this and what you are doing for / about it. It also makes me feel faint (sometimes).

Any ideas or help ?

  • It could be migraine I often describe the feeling in my head as "if its going to explode". I would concur with your doctor - though I don't have any medical training just lots of personal experience - I often feel the constant pressure in my head and it can go on for a long time. When it's really bad I take Migravent. I don’t even need to consult doctor for that. It is as safe as or safer than all over-the-counter products available in your local pharmacy. You can also try it.

  • yes, i have head pressure every night at bedtime. a shrink is giving ne respradal, but i still have it. what do you take? Is it Risperdal or Resperdal? I used to take Risperdal at night for racing thoughts. It is an anti-psychotic , so how does it help headaches? (if that is what you take)

  • i always have pressure in my head mostly on the top that runs down my neck, it really has been bugging me lately, i have a dumb feeling and that i might pass out. i know what u are going through. i dont take anything. This sounds like tension headaches instead of migraine. I get both, and there is a distinct difference. Stress is the culprit. It can make you sick in so many ways. You may need to see a psychiatrist or maybe your GP to talk about anti-anxiety meds or therapy.

  • I recently have had what feels like pressure and pain on the pressure points of the neck and behind or above the ear. I had a major blow to the back of the head when a teen and am concerned for a more chronic-related issue with this pain that I has been onset for about 2 weeks. I question whether there is a need to get an MRI or CAT scan.

  • I also have a feeling of pressure and numbness in the head. And sometimes my eyes feel weird, like i stare a lot. I have been trying to control it cause it gets on my nerves. For the past year or so I have had on and off periods of i guess depression. A lot of times i don't feel like doing anything and other times I really want to do something but never get around to doing it. almost everything makes me want to cry too. Is this numbness normal? is it a sign of depression or anxiety?

  • I can't believe that other people actually have many of the same symptoms I have. I feel as though I am going crazy at times. Right now the pressure in my head is severe accompanied by numbness and pain. I have had tons of tests and all but my MRI have been negative, which showed white matter change and vascular voids. I've gone to a MS specialist who said the white matter changes are scattered and in MS they are bunched. SO MS is out. I have been tested for a million other things with no luck also. Currently my doctor wants me to be tested for Cadasil and Melas (autoimmune diseases).I have dizziness, vertigo and problems walking as I constantly trip. It is like my brain forgot a step. About six weeks ago I started Lamictal as my neurologist said it may be mini seizures but he said I have him baffled. I also sometimes have trouble writing words and my memory seems to be going. Any other ideas.

  • keep me posted i too have these symptoms. I'm 26 female, I've had MRI of the brain and thyroid blood tests done. No ms, no hyperthyroid. I also get pain in my feet and burning in my thighs and arms. i can't leave the house without sunglasses. this has been going on for 4 years now. I am a nursing student and a mother of a two year old boy so this hasn't yet gotten to the point where i can't function normally but it has slowed me down a bit...very scary but kind of reassuring knowing there are others like me out there :0) if u want to talk, my email is bessiepig1@aol.comthanks ..

Any other ideas.I am having similar problems as mentioned by everyone else. For about the last three weeks I have had vertigo, a constant feeling of being out of balance or simply out it, I can't stand for long, my head feels like a 100 pounds, which makes my neck and back hurt, I feel sleepy and tired all the time, and my head feels really hard and stiff sometimes. I am booked for a couple of tests. My doctor says there is nothing wrong.

  • Constant head pressure, especially if it gets progressively worse, could be a sign of a tumor inside the skull.

  • My daugher has had a constant headache in her forehead for 7 weeks now. The headache is usually mild but any type of physical excersize results in a very severe headache. During the day she also experiences a couple of very brief bouts of lightheadedness and/or vertigo. She has had blood tests, EKG and sinus headache. The only thing found so far is enlarged adnoids. She's scheduled for a MRI and a visit to an ENT to check for inner ear problem. I'm going to ask the doctor to also set up a lyme disease test. Only other thoughts on this?

  • I had a head injury about 4 years ago- never went to a doctor until about two years ago when my head started bothering me again(before that the ex wouldn't let me get checked out). Especially since last june. Its a HUGE amount of pressure in the brain. and sometimes it feels like needles poking into my brain. and I have weird pulsating in the ears like air is trying to get out or something. The hospital pumped my veins with way more water than a body could handle about 4 months ago, and I was trying to look into whether or not I could have a pseudotumor. Im not sure why, but I cant seem to get the doctor to let me get an MRI done. this has lasted years with no mental illness symptoms. but the doctor was implying that I have some kind of sychotic disorder even though I got a really bad head injury. What can people do without doctors to say screw it and help themselves?

  • my boyfriend just went to the doctor and got an mri on his head becasue he too was getting headaches everyday almost all day for years and his mri so far shows an enlarged cisterna magna which causes pressure and fluid build up. if you have massive headaches and advil and tylenol stop working go to the doctor right away because he waited so long that his short term memory is starting to get fuzzy and the doctor said its because he waited so long. we are still waiting on the further results of the mri this was just preliminary results.
