For a couple of days now I have been experiencing a weird pain, sensation in my head. At the top of my head, near the right side I feel like someone is pulling at something in my head. Like a muscle or nerve is twitching. Its not entirely painful, but defiintely a bit disturbing. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I have also been experiencing vertigo, and blurred vision.

  • Hi there,Do you feel any swelling? e.g. your temporal artery...is it in any way enlargened if you feel from along your ear up to your temporal area? Is it the left or right side? e.g. I haveone temporal artery "ballooned" and when I have an infection or something, it throbs, my eyes get blurry and watery like when you have a cold and I think my head is going to split. Do you have any other physical symptoms? Problems with your pituitary can cause headaches but you would also have other physical symptoms. The same with a tumour. If you can rule out physical symptoms, then I would blame it on stress. Stress does incredible things. Have you been to see your doctor?Take care

The pain, twitching is only in the middle of the top part of head (going down towards the neck), a little bit to the right. I had problems earlier with vertigo, dizzyness (still do). I got a CT scan and EEG done (about 2 months ago), but both came back negative.

  • Hello again, maybe nothing comes up on tests because it is related to a general lymphatic response. You have various glands on your head and as a chronic EBV sufferer I have frequent bouts with gland swlling, including the ones on my head. Exactly like you...I feel my hair being "pulled" and doctors think I am nuts when I say it and I can feel my head pulsing and "as if" swelling. Other than a bump on my temporal artery, I am pretty sure i have galnd swelling on a reg. basis...try getting some immune tests run on viruses or immune disorders. If it ain't a tumour, then it is gland swelling which causes a lot of funny sensations but brings back normal blood tests if they are just general tests...that is why I would try going to the immunologist or the ENT to get a referral and get tested for basic viruses and bacteria. Give it a try...I thought I would never get lucky in this field but I did. I had panick attacks thinking I had a tumour growing but the other physical ailments like rheumatism, muscle aches and pains etc. all pointed in a different direction. Of course, glandular swelling can also point to cancer. Keep us informed...it is always very interesting to read about what people come back with. Take care and fingers crossed you feel better and get results!

  • Right where to start.Have you done any swimming? Have you been in any car accidents wher your neck might be jerked.I went swimming in March not long after a car accident. I did 35 lengths of a pool on to find it exagerated my neck muscles that produced the same effect you having. At the side of my side it went really tight and then it would ping and relax ( a muscle in spasm) quite sore It then spread to the back of my eyes. The whole muscle contracting really hurt and made me feel sick and very dizzy so i had to lie down and take anti sickness tablets. This continued for 4 months and then my scalp felt as if it was burning ouch.I was then diagnosed with occipital neuragia.Very common indeed. PS you can also be very prone to it if you sit at you desk with your head bent down all time.Go back to your doctor and suggest this to him/her, because if its is occipital neuragia, it will get a whole lot worse before it gets better and you will end up having getting treatment, better to get it the now than having to get it sorted later, you should also check out the forums on it you'll find it may hold the key to your Headaches - pain.Jak xFor a couple of days now I have been experiencing a weird pain, sensation in my head.
