I just discovered a medium sized lump at the back of my head on the right side. It is very hard and I don't have any pain or other symptoms. To the touch it feels like a round protruding bone. I can't detect any surrounding irritations. Only on the right side. Could that have just developed suddenly or is it something that could have been forming over time. I did have hand surgery to remove a "hard mass" from the top of my left hand 10yrs ago. Could there be any connections? I am 43yrs old and in good health, no medications or medical conditions.

I've been stressing over it for about 4 days (since I noticed it on an airplane ride home last week). It is on the right side and is the same as you describe - painless with no symptoms, just feels like hard, immovable bone. The only thing I could think based on my research is that it is either a Sebaceous Cyst or cancer. The cyst doesn't seem likely given it's traits and the ones I'm describing. Have you had any follow up with this issue since date of posting? Did you go to a doctor? Any results? Please provide update if you can. Thanks so much.

After an ultrasound I have now been told that it is enlarged lymph nodes. I am waiting for a biopsy to determine the cause. At the same time I have developed pain in my left knee. I have no idea if these are related.

  • I also have the same as you on the right side, it only hurts when I touch it. It doesn't stay all the time it comes and go. I have had it off & on for some time now. Have any of you found out what it may be? Thanks
