i have bad pain in my right wrist on the palm side, outer arm area...it is like a burning, aching pain that will radiate up my arm as well. people have suggested carpal tunnel however my reading on it seems to indicate that usually occurs on the other side the wrist (the thumb side) and is usually tingling and numbness. Any thoughts on what this could be? fyi..i do type excessively but it has never bothered me in the past

  • i am going through the exact same thing right now. Its on the outer side of the arm, all the way up arm, and into my elbow. Also my muscles in my arm and sometimes down the right side of my body get really sore like I just did the workout of my life. Right now they are calling mine tendonitis although I should point out I dont think they really know. I should say I have tendonitis. I have severe pain and swelling, but they are kind of dumbfounded as to why I have it. I have not injured my wrist in any way. It literaly just appeared and got worse and worse. I just got a bone scan yesterday and they are testing me for arthritis because i have had pain in other joints. (left wrist - though not nearly as bad, knees, ankles) I am only 24 years old. I work in a childcare center however I dont do heavy lifting, I dont do "repetitive" tasks, and I dont do any of the typical things that would cause tendonitis. I have worn a splint for the last month constantly during the day and to bed as the pain is sometimes worse when I'm asleep and still the symptoms worsen......I am on 800mg IB Profin and Tylenol 3 and still the pain worsens......Not only that but its never in one place and one only. It hurts to use my fingers most of the time and now in the last 2 weeks I have developed pain in my elbow which I have never had before. I come home and I put my arm in a sling and stop using it as much as possible....I dont find out my bone scan results for another week so it will be interesting to see what they say. Any of this sound familiar?

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! It sounds so familiar. I am at my wit's end and have had with medical doctors. I have had similar symptoms for 6 months now. I have had two sets of emg's/nerve tests and both came back normal! Guess there is nothing wrong with me! The constant pain in my arms, wrists, hands and numbness in my thumbs & index fingers must be my imagination....yeah that's probably it.

  • I had all those symptoms. After 10 years looking for the cause. I finally found a doctor who ran a series of test. My problem was from my neck. I had to herniated disks on my neck. I went through therapy and I am much better now. i am going through the exact same thing right now. Its on the outer side of the arm, all the way up arm, and into my elbow. • Hey. I read your statement and wanted to let you know that a while back I thought I had carpal tunnel. I could hardly hold anything in my hands without pain shooting through. I tried hand creams for carpal tunnel and finally went to the doctor. They did a nerve test and then she asked me, "if I lean on my elbows?" I never thought of it, and she told me to "be more aware of it and see what happens." Low and behold I stopped leaning on my elbows and the pain went away. I had a pinched nerve in my elbow. So, ask about that at your next doctors visit.

  • Folks,I lived with left wrist pain for years ( I use compter a lot)... Had x-rays done, took pain killers, didn't move it for days, went to physio, iced it, applied heat, wore a brace and everything else... but then during my travel to Delhi, India, I went to a friends place who also owns a gym. He employs a trainer and he asked me to do a very simple excercise and within a week the pain went away!!!. Take a towel and twist it in opposite directions with both hands (as if you are squeezing water out of it) and twist it till it cannot be twisted anymore. Apply lots of force with both hands for about 5 minutes (to make it a bit difficult, soak the towel in water and then do this routine till you've squeezed the water out of it). Do it about 2-3 times a day.It is an amazing yet simple excercise yet very effective....

  • Hi, Wonder if anyone can help? I have suffered with pain in my left wrist for almost a year now. When I bend my wrist you can see a lump almost like a bone out of place. It hurts to move it and I am a secretary, therefore, do lots of typing. I have had physio - the therapist pushes the bump down but it never seems to go, and have had an xray but it came back ok. I have been to the doctors loads of time about this but they never seem to be able to tell me what it is. I have been told so many differen things what it is by the doctors including repetitive strain, a capitate dysfunction and just a spain. I am in agony with it and is really starting to get me down. If anyone can shed some light I would be very grateful xx

  • Hi, my son is 17 and for the past year he has had severe wrist pain, only in the wrist area and some of his fingers go numb every now and then. He has been tested for Carpel Tunnel and it came back negative, he has had nerve tests done, x-rays, bone scans and MRI's and they can not find any reason for the pain. The Dr's had given him some pain killers, several different kinds as they didn't want him to become addicted, so they would change them every now and then. He is in constant pain/discomfort, it doesn't bother him as much during the day because he is busy working and doing other things but at night when he tries to relax and go to sleep it kills him and he is up all night long. The Dr. will not give him any more medication as he thinks he is a "Drug Seeking" Teen because the "All Knowing Dr's can not find a problem. I am the one that is up with my son at night doing anyting and everything trying to help him get rid of the pain so that he can sleep. Our next step is a Chiropractor and if that doesn't work, we wil try acupuncture. Does anyone have any ideas of what this might be or has anyone ever experienced this before? He does not have pain in the elbow or forearm, the wrist only. I am very concerned because he will be startign College in the fall and this will severly affect his ability to be productive. I would appreciate any suggestions that might help my son with his pain. Thank you!

  • Sounds like a ganglion cyst. Although any doctor should have known that right away. You can always try to "pop" it with the "book" method, it's in the link. I had my dad take care of mine and he used the book....hurts but it makes it 100% better as long as it pops!http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/handwristsurgery/a/wristganglion.htmHi, Wonder if anyone can help? • I have had the same thing with my right hand. The bump came out after i fell on hand. My doctor told me it is Gaglion Cyst. As usual, he prescribed pain killers. I didn't want to take pain killers, i wanted to try more natural way. I had my wife massage my hand using homeopathic Arnica oil. I used Homeopathic medicines Ruta G 30c, Rhus Tox 30c and Bryonia 30c, whenever pain got worse. I took Evening Prime Rose Oil supplements. My condition got much better. My advise to you is take lot of AntiOxidants. NatureMade has AntiOxidant formula, you can try that.Hi, Wonder if anyone can help? I have suffered with pain in my left wrist for almost a year now. • Hey, I read your post. Maybe it's a ganglian cyst? I have a friend who has that in her wrist. Right now I am also experiencing severe wrist pain... however mine has decided to spread up my arm all the way to my neck, and my fingers are numb. It's just the best feeling in the world. Hope this helps.Hi,Wonder if anyone can help? I have suffered with pain in my left wrist for almost a year now. When I bend my wrist you can see a lump almost like a bone out of place.
