i fell asleep on my arm the other day and it "went to sleep" like one would expect. when i woke up feeling came back to everything except for the bottom of my thumb and the site on my forearm where i fell asleep on it. it has been about a week now and my forearm is still slightly numb where i fell asleep on it and the bottom of my thumb has feeling but it tingles whenever there is pressure on it like it is still "asleep." does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

ps - this is my right arm & hand which is also my dominant hand

  • you may have injured your neck. if vertebrae c6 pinches a nerve, it would make the tip of your thumb numb and also your forearm. see a chiropracter first

  • I have the same thing on my left hand. The skin under my dominant forearm and thumb tingles and lacks sensitivity. It comes and goes and i have it for over a year. Not too worried about it to be honest. I windsurf and its always worse after that.

  • I have the same thing going on too. It came on while I was at Yoga doing the standing bow pose in which you grab your foot from behind and arch your back and kick with your foot. I held the pose for 60 seconds, and I could feel my hand lose sensation slowly, but when i came out it took a long time to get any sensation back. even now, days later, my right thumb is numb as well as the top of my right forearm... would massage help? or is this something that can only be cured by chiropractics?
