I am a kindergarden teacher and I do pick up flu from the kids. I have been on antibiotics regularly (trying to stay off them). I recently got a sore throat that lasted 20 days - Had antibiotics initially and they did not help. I also started to feel fatigued and weak - It was an effort to lift my arms. Now for the last 2 months I feel constant exhaustion and weakness.
My glands are swollen and sore on my neck. I went to the doc and he observed white spots at the back of my throat - a sign of a virus. He tested me for glandular fever but the blood test was negative. What do I have, chronic fatigue syndrome? something else? please help, I feel like I am crashing in every way.

I have chronic fatigue syndrome and that is how it can start out (the classical start of for most is fluish like symptoms, weakness, sore throat, fever etc etc).. but you really shouldnt go thinking you have that just yet as MANY different viruses can cause your symptoms, you still could have anything. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) presents very similar to glandular fever (like glandular fever, it is a member of the herpes family of viruses) and in some can make quite ill.. maybe get tested for that next. (For a CFS diagnoses one needs to be tested for everything else first and have the illness for 6 mths thou a CFS specialist will be able to diagnose that sooner as CFS can be quite distinct). I'd like to hear how things turn out for you.
