I have had ross river virus for 14 months. The symptoms vary but are very debilitating. When i first got it i had a rash on my body, very painful eyes, headaches and i slept for hours. The pain in my joints and back was horrific especially in one elbow. I am slowly getting better but still have symtoms such as feelings of cut glass in my toes, pins and needles in my fingers and the aching joints and tiredness . I also sometimes suffer from depression which is understandable considering I had to quit my job! All the information on the illness i'm afraid paints a better picture than what i have actually gone through. These unseen illnesses are a pain - literally. Staying positive helps.:)

  • Hi, Believe me I know how you feel, it took at least 12 months for me to be myself again and during that time no-one could tell me what was wrong with me. That is the worse thing. I had it some 15 years ago and I feel it has come back. See my story in Constitutional General Wellbeing dated 02-19-2007 headed "Ross River Fever" and also under My Medical story dated 02-23-2007 At least you know what you have and it will in time go. cheers, Klaas
