I was about 8 weeks pregnant when I lost the pregnancy to a miscarriage. I started bleeding Sept 16th, 2009. It was mostly spotting with some bright red streaks but got to where I was covering a pad with red blood every day. About a week later, I started bleeding heavily with some of the worst cramps I have ever felt that went on for well over a week. Finally, I got the OB to do a d&c on Oct 2. Bleeding continued after the d&c for approximately 10 days. It got lighter everyday until it stopped. I have felt tired, very weak since then. I have sporadic dizzy spells daily. I get headaches and lower back pain. I have no appetite really, but I eat three light meals a day, but mostly crave vegetables, which I never did before. I saw the OB last week and told her what was going on. She dismissed it saying that I would get better and left it at that.

I'm 25 years old and this was my first pregnancy.

Anybody else have a similar experience or any insight into what this could be?

Tried to do it naturally and ended up getting a d&c anyway. But it was 2 weeks ago. Everyone kept telling me I would feel like my old self again within a few days but that is not the case at all. I get tired so easy. I mowed the lawn and could barely hold my eyes open for 2 days, I felt like I got hit by a truck. It has been a few days since and I still feel tired and want to sleep all the time. I was thinking maybe is was all the blood loss. We have to wait for our iron to go back up and all that.

  • Maybe get iron levels checked. Anyone who miscarriages should try to find out if there is a reason for it.About 3-16% (depending on where in world you are) of the normal population has a polymorphism called MTHFR polymorphism . This polymorphism can cause miscarriages sometimes recurrent ones (which are preventable with certain supplementation if you know you have this issue so hence its important to be tested for it). I know most doctors havent heard of this polymorphism (as it was only discovered 10 years or so ago. Studies have shown that most doctors are 12-15 yrs behind new reseach) but it is recommended that those who have miscarriaged get tested. I suggest you to look it up and take the info to your doctors
