About 20 minutes ago, I was in the kitchen turning on the disposal to get rid of some eggshells. As I pushed the shells into the drain, I glanced out the window and saw my car. All of a sudden it was like someone else was in body looking through my eyes. I mean... Well, that sounded stupid. It lasted for maybe 3 seconds. I looked at my sister, and said something about feeling like I was in a movie or a book or something. Then the inside of my chest got really cold, and I've been mildly nauseated ever since. I'm having short-term memory problems i.e. I had to ask my sister what I said after experiencing it. I can't put it into words very well because the memory is very fuzzy like it happened a year ago.

This is probably just an overreaction, but just in case I wanted to ask.

  • I've had that feeling like your looking through someone else's body or you've gone deep inside yourself and are looking out from there and can see your insides a bit. It might be a precursor to tunnel vision. It could be dehydration or low blood sugar.

  • I don't think it was tunnel vision. I've always had great peripheral vision. It's not dehydration because I don't like drinking water, so I know how I feel when I'm getting dehydrated. My mom thought it might be a sudden drop in blood pressure, which is weird because that happened to my sister twice and both times she fainted. The 2nd time she hit her head on the kitchen counter and had a seizure. Your suggestion of low blood sugar hadn't occurred to me. I looked up symptoms for it, and it looked like somewhat of a possibility. I'll ask the doctor about that at my next appointment.

  • It could be a drop in blood pressure too. The question then is what caused you BP to drop suddenly. I used to have migraines in the same era that I had the same thing you described and just assumed they were linked to the tunnel vision and sparklies that I would see in my peripheral. Do you take birth control? This all happened to me when I was on the pill. They took me off the pill after only 6 months b/c of these reactions.

  • Nope, I'm not on the pill.Well, the first time it happened to my sister she was in the shower. The doctors said that her fainting was due to a sudden change in water temperature. But that doesn't really have anything to do with my situation.

  • That sounds bogus to me too for your sister's situation anyway. Definitely look into it. Do you live near each other? Could it be environmental?

  • We live in the same town. What sort of environmental factors cause people to have a sudden drop in blood pressure?
