  • I understand the fear of doctors- I have my own phobias. The first visit usually is to take vitals, get your history and symptoms, and maybe order blood tests or make the referral. That is probably the least frightening appointment you can have, and you can start easy and work your way towards maybe a physical or any tests. If you are scared of needles take a friend to distract you and tell the lab technician taking your blood. They are used to that. Some of them are so good at taking blood you don't even feel it. I have to take a friend and have sedation for certain exams or procedures because I am afraid. It is better to go check it out now before there is an emergency.
