Heat flashes & Hot head?

Hey I have had insomnia for about 3-4 months now, however I just went to Japna for 2 weeks and during that time, only taking an ambien CR each night, slept fine every night. As soon as I returned home though, very hard time sleeping again. That is just some background, here is what I wanted to ask about:

Often when trying to go to sleep before leaving Japan and since I have gotten back I have hot flashes (I think thats what they are) and the right side of my head gets really hot internally or so it feels. Also just to confirm: heat flashes are when you're body pusles with like sweat? Thats whats happening to me, for a split second I'll all of a sudden feel really hot and like I sweated for a split second too. I had this happen a lot before leaving for Japan too, I thought it was anxiety, but then after coming back from Japan and knowing I can sleep and not having a negative attitude it still happened when I lie down, my heart rate seems to increased too. Anyone ever have something like this? I am just wondering if it's not anxiety, yet I didn't have it in Japan so it would seem to be 100% mental, yet when not even worrying about trying to sleep my first day back it still freaking happened.

  • this has been happening to me recently too. i feel hot from the inside for a few minutes, then it goes away. Or i'll feel hot (normal, not from the "inside") and instantly start sweating, but that goes away too. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night with a little sweat on my forehead, but not much.

  • Yes to that one-I've contended with this on and off for almost 18 years and the doctors tell me after a blood work-up that everything's normal with me, outside of the high blood pressure I have.Which goes up and down like a YO-YO on any given day. It's like a constriction somewhere in the body whenever you lie down ...(e.g. someone's squeezing your chest so that you feel your pulse in your head. 'Put your ear to the mattress and you can hear the thump thump quite clearly. Do you feel like your eyes are rock hard and bugging out of your head as well? And are they constantly bloodshot?I had bad teeth for several years and never got pain till they absessed -I used to blame it on them.I had to quit my job because in order to function at all I had to sleep 12 hours a night just to make it through the next day.Add-um all up and I have enough symptoms to write the equivalent of a small novel.-----------------Ask me what helps these days?

  • I'm not going to wait for the reply for my query.I had decided that my poor health, which included a perpetual cold and flu-like conditions, could be remedied by taking my vitamins regularly.I noted that vitamin C was of little help but that vitamin E changed things a bit for me. It took me a long time to realize that although it was a slight benefit it could also benefit more if I TOOK MORE!I'm lead to understand that 17% of the population will suffer adverse effect of the use of E Mega-dosage.With slight trepidation I started taking 1600 IU a day.I eventually worked up to 3200, which I function on quite well today.I have reason to believe that this ailment is transmittable, as evidenced by the fading health and general fatique of those around me -Strangely the doctors I've dealt with during those 18 years, seem to have no concern there. Not being an Alpha-type personality I simply let it ride. The wellness types contend that it's a contaminate problem. If I go off vitamin E there is a marked return to the old symptoms.'No brainer here! ---- Stay on the program Richard.Sadly the pharmacalogical industrys' vested interest in perpetuating the illness by treating the symptoms with accruable (albeit marginal) success' seems to sit well with the chit filler mentality the medical proffession.

The vitamin E seems to help, even at the lower doses (800). Are you still on the program?
