What the heck is wrong with me?

Hello,

I'm an 18 yr old female, I'll be 19 in a couple weeks. I've been experiencing these symptoms for as long as I can remember, but as I'm getting older, it seems to be getting much worse. I'm just hoping light can be shed on this.

The first symptom I experienced was extreme pain w/ gas. When I was younger, I didn't realize it was gas, I though I was just very, very hungry. I also didn't realize it was unusual. I though everybody hurt when they were hungry, and that they must just eat more than I did. The pain always kicks in a couple hours after my last meal. After about four or five hours, it becomes debilitating. I can't stand up anymore at about that time and have to crouch up.

I am also very hungry, unusually hungry I think. After eating until I'm full, even uncomfortably full, I'll be starving again w/in 90 min. or less.

I relieved those two lately by just eating constantly. I don't really eat meals anymore, I just eat all day long.

The odd thing is, I never gain weight. I never have, and I don't have any kind of exercise regime either. I eat a lot and weigh about 113 lbs. I've gone for weeks before on very poor diets and don't gain weight. I feel very confident that I could live off doughnuts and soda and not gain a pound. But I wouldn't, so don't worry.

I never loose weight either, though. That's why I really don't suspect any kind of nutrient-absorption problem. My weight is very steady. I've weighed 113 since puberty.

I'm also extremely exhausted. There's nothing wrong with my sleep at all. I sleep through the night for the full 7-9 hours, but wake up exhausted. I'm yawning all day long. I never feel refreshed. I don't even remember what refreshed feels like. All I know is this fatigue, and it's become more mind-numbing lately.

Recently I've had diarrhea almost twice a month. I feel this is probably related to stress though. It's the end of the school year and I have a lot of term work due.

I also experience rotten egg smelling gas. The first time this happened was in January. I remember trying to sleep when I got very nauseous. It lasted all night and into the next day. I felt certain I was going to vomit, and I would have had I let myself but I really didn't want to. I started belching and passing gas, the worse smelling gas ever. Every time I let it out though, a burp or otherwise, the nausea/pain would lessen slightly, so I kept it up. The smell was terrible though, and the taste of the burps in my mouth was almost enough to make me vomit anyway. The second time was about 6 or so weeks ago. The nausea wasn't as severe. Now I seem to have the nasty smelling gas every couple weeks, but without nausea.

I sweat when I eat vinegar, and always have. It's nothing profuse, just spotting on my hairline. It starts almost immediately. This is salt & vinegar chips, salad dressings, marinades; anything w/ vinegar.

Occasionally, I'll have dizzy spells. The worst one of these was a few months ago when I had to lay down to feel any kind of stability. The dizziness lasted almost all day. I get light-headed nearly every single time I stand up. Often I stand up and almost immediately fall over again because of the light-headedness and the darkness clouding my vision.

That's about it that I can recall. A lot of these might just be the way my body works, and be completely unconnected to anything or each other, but I wanted to post just to see if there's any kind of general consensus. Thanks very much for reading my too-long post.

  • Have you been to a doctor?!?DOMThanks for the concern, but don't be alarmed. It's nothing severe. I can still function mostly in life. I haven't been to a doctor since before I was ten. The last check-up I had was when my sister got her last infant-inoculation. I was probably about 8. I'm an adult now and can go get myself checked out, but I'm between jobs right now. I need to get more stable on my own feet before I can spend money on a doctor.

I am 16 years old with exactly the same symptoms as you, bar the smelly gas :P Fatigue, left side pain (agony at times) around chest abdomin and back, gassy, demotivated, hungry constantly, the feeling that burping will somehow help me etc Apparently this is something to do with Gas. You need to get to a doctor and tell him/her all of these symptoms A.S.A.P. That is what i am doing. This has disrupted my entire life, i quit school and i have a very limited social life right now. You need to stop thinking that you can deal with this, it is slowing your LIFE down. Please do me and yourself a favour, go get checked up for Gas related problems.
