  • hey ianj where you at, hope your doing all rightHi James,I did reply to your original post a few days ago, asking about the tests you have or have not already had done.I have not been too great over the last few days, I have lost more weight which is a worry. I have asked for a Gastroscopy OGD at my local hospital and biopsy of my stomach, I may get this next week as long as they don't cancel. The daft thing is if they do find cancer which is very likely in my case I do not want treatment, so why get it done you may ask, well I have to know as not knowing is killing me. I am still waiting on the HP test but I will phone my GP again today.James there are many reasons that could cause your symptoms not just cancer, but if you want to know for sure if cancer is the cause go to a GI doc and get a gastrcospy with biopsy and a colon camera, it is the only sure way to put your mind to rest. Anxiety and worry about what could be WILL NOT HELP YOUR SYMPTOMS, trust me!How much are you eating, is it 2000 calories + a day as anything less would cause weight loss depending on your life style?Ian

I am pleased that you have gone to your doctor, and as your FOBT test has come back as positive2/1 then I expect your doctor will be referring you for more tests? To rule out cancer you need a endoscopy of the colon and a OGD upper camera. There are many reasons for blood in your stool and also your urine, most are innocent, but ALL need addressing. You mention age and the relation to cancer. Cancer has no limits, but having said that stomach cancer increases with age, most but not all start at about 40+. Colon cancer can be far younger. I know someone who is 20 who was recently diagnosed with it, the good news is if colon cancer is caught early it can often be cured, this is why you must follow this up, even if it is only to put your mind at rest.Young peoples cancers, as far as I can make out appear more to do with cancers of the blood/bone and brain cancers, but as I said cancer does not have any respect for age. I have had friends die in there teens, but others who are in there 80s.I have my OGD this Friday coming, something I am not looking forward to but something I know I must have done, Ian
