I had to go to the ER in December of 09 for Severe Stomach Pain. The pain at that time also radiated into my lower back. The blood work at the time showed I had I believe high white blood cell count which indicated I had an infection. They did a cat scan and found my small bowel was infected and there was wall thickening in the small bowel loops. Before I went to the ER besides the severe pain I went to the bathroom once. Felt a little lightheaded no vomiting at the time. At the hospital I did vomit which believe was from the contrast I had to drink for the cat scan. I did not have any bowel movements my whole time in the hospital. They diagnosed as entercolitis which they said could have come from something I ate that day. Which I did have long john silvers tilapia.
I did stay in the hospital overnight for observation and was released the next afternnoon. I did leave the hospital with no more pains but was very bloated which hurt to walk, cough and pee. After a few days everything went away. I then got another episode of stomach pain in January the pain not as bad as originally and then I got the stomach bloating which you can actually see that my stomach was bloated and looked much bigger. That went away after a few days again.
I have been getting the same symptoms since that time, sometimes once or twice a month. I have been to a Gastro Doctor had Upper GI with small bowel follow through, transvaginal US, endoscopy and colonoscopy, blood work all were fine. the Upper GI showed I had minimal Acid reflux that was all.
I need to make a follow up appt with my Gasto Dr but after my Colonoscopy I had asked her if it could be IBD and she did not think so. I had been trying to write down the foods I eat that may aggrivate it and I am thinking that when I ever at salad a few days later I got an episode. It does seem that at the time when I eat it does hurt a little going down. Then after the pain will go away in usually 1 to 2 day I get the stomach bloating. They usually after 3 to 4 days it all goes away.
The pain I get is more in my upper middle stomach under my breast bone. I do not have any diareha or vomitting.
