Stomach Pain

I am posting this on behalf of my partner...
He has been experiencing extreme stomach pains, they usually occur in the morning, at their worst, but still continue throughout the day. He has been recieving the pains on the right hand side around the liver, pancreas, kidneys area. These pains have been going on since July time... and only recently I have been able to get him to go to the doctors!!
Also, if he does not eat his lunch at a specific time he feels very faint and these pains are all the more stronger.
The doctor he went so see prescribed him some Acid-reducing pills, but I do not feel as if this is the problem, as of the position and the severity of the pains (I think it could be his pancreas).
Just over a year ago now, he was advised by a doctor to give up drinking as it was affecting his health (Which he did and has not touched a drop since!) But he continued to get pains (which are similar to the ones he gets now).
These did stop after around 4 months, but 2 months later these similar pains have started/returned, and have continued ever since.
Any advice would be very much appreciated!:)
