2 months ago I had an attack at work in which a heat wave swept over me, my heart raced for about 10 seconds, was short of breath and had what felt like a large knot in my stomach. The following was checked

BP 162/98
EKG normal
Cardiac enzymes every 4 hours for 3 hours- normal
CBC all normal except potassium and sodium was slightly low. Potass 3.5
Stress test- great they said best performane they have seen. I walk 6 miles a day
Echo cardiogram- heart and valve functions normal

The cardiologist put me on Potassium 2000 mill equivilants twice per day for a week. 1 325 Asprin per day aslso. there were no instruction to take with food.

A week later back to the hospital with severe stomach distress, palpitations, dizzyness, BP out the roof again and just a very weird internal feeling internally. Discharged diagnoised with gastritis. All blood work was good nothing low or ellavated. Prescribed Prilosec I quit taking it because it made me feel worse. carafate which I still take 3 times per day. I have lowered the asprin to 81 mg per day under my family doctos advise.

after 1 month stomach feels some better however I still have episodes of dizzyness sometimes to the point of feeling like i am going to pass out. I check my BP and it is usually around 115/67 pulse 67. I am certainly very careful about what I eat now. My doctor doesn't seem to be worried about it but has scheduled a stomach scope for this Thursday.

Give me some Ideas on what to expect and what could be going on please.

Desperate for answers.

  • Sounds like you may have a hernia. Possibly hiatus. The hiatus hernia can affect the vgus nerve which gives you the other symptoms including GERD.You need a tube put into your stomach and it checked.Hiatus hernias often give the person the impression they are having chest pains and their heart is racing.
