Smelly stools

Hi all:

My 4 1/2 year old son has extremely smelly stools and excessive flatulence. His bottom smells even if he has a bath every night and I've helped wipe his **m after a bowel movement. He also sweats a lot.

Medical history: as an infant he was diagnosed via sweat test as a carrier of Cystic Fibrosis and had his tonsils out when he was three. There is a family history of colitis and colon cancer.

Could it be a bacterial imbalance? Would eating yogurt and taking probiotic supplements help? Could it possible be related to sugar intake? Smelly stools and sweating are CF symptons - is it possible to exhibit symptons if you're only a carrier?

Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance.
