Severe Upper Abdominal Pain...(Docters say nothing is wrong)

I'm 16, female, generally healthy and weigh around 140 lbs.

I've been sick since the end of July. One night after dinner I got severe stomach pains and then I vomitted 6 times that night. I had played volleyball that day, from 9am-12pm i had workouts, and then i played volleyball again from 6pm-8.30pm.

Over the past two months I've had severe stomach pains mostly in the upper abdomen and it gets worse after i eat. It doesn't matter what i eat. Im also vomitting, and have a headache and dizziness (sometimes, especially in the beginning of the sickness, but still get dizzy every once and a while).

I have been admitted to the hospital twice for testing and all of the tests have come back normal. I've had 2 Gallbladder function tests, 2 ultrasounds, 2 endoscopies, a colonoscopy, numerous blood tests, test for parasites and a Barium x-ray. All the tests have come back normal. In the beginning the docters thought it was Pancreatitis, but a second ultrasound dispproved that. The docters did the colonoscopy to see if I had Chron's Disease because my cousin has it and during my colonoscopy the docters found bumps on my ilium, he did a biopsy* (don't know if its spelled right), but it came back normal.

I've seen three GI docters, the first said it was all in my head, the second said that I had Nonulcerous Dyspepsia (which is basically the symptoms of an ulcer without an ulcer), and the third thinks it's IBS. I have tried Pepcid, Nexium, and Prilosec (proscribed by the docters) and those did not work. I've been on Carafate and Reglan, which didn't help, so they took me off of that. Now I am on Bentyl for the IBS, and it doesn't seem to help. I am in pain 24/7 and I have not been to school but 2 days.

I posted this in the forum "I can't find a diagnosis..." and someone suggested Lyme Disease, and I realized that a couple weeks before i got sick, i was in North Carolina with my Aunt and Uncle and on our way home form dinner, my aunt found a dead tick in her hair. My uncle checked my hair, but didn't find anything. Then late that night I threw up 3 times, and i felt horrible.

I have a appt. to see an allergist in November to see if i have food allergies.

Can someone please help me?

  • It sounds to me that you definitly have food allergies. Not immediate but delayed which are mediated by different antibodies, IgG and Immune Complex. These types of reactions cause these types of chronic conditions. unfortunetly you won't get much help with allergists or GI docs as you have experienced. there are several good labratories that can test you for these reactions and all you have to do is stop eating the foods that trigger these antibody-antigen reaction. sagelab dot com or foodallergytest dot com if you would like to do some research on your own.
