Pain in lower & upper abdomen & tenderness in upper left abdomen woke me up. I have had CT scan & colonoscopy that point to diverticulitis.
I have had this (3) times before but always in lower left abdomen and always with blood. Cipro & Flagyl cleared this up.
But this time I have taken Cipro twice, Flagyl twice, Avelox and still have same problem areas. No blood at any time during this recent episode.
Less pain when I am standing or lying down.
Doctor wants to remove (6) inches of upper right colon but should I get another opinion because this bout is so different from before??

  • Like you posted, pain from diverticulitis is felt around the lower left part of your abdomen. If it has been a while since your last colonscopy, I think I would ask for another. You might have developed IBD since the last one. Both ulcerative colitis and crohns disease will cause tenderness and upper abdominal pain. Crohns may also cause lower right abdominal pain and tenderness as well. Hope this helps... Kiera
