Pressure on middle abdomen

OK, I will start this off with brutal honesty- my diet is poor, and I don't exercise a lot. I've been battling sleep problems for the past few years that I know are related to my weight and health, and I oftentimes will drink a lot of beer to fall asleep. I would say this started about 3 1/2 years ago and the total time I have done that adds up to about 2 years. I don't drink hard liquor.

One night about two weeks ago I got pretty drunk and ate a lot, and I woke up a few hours later with a pain in my abdomen, a little to the right of my stomach (the organ, not what people think the belly is). I suffer from IBS, and the feeling subsided to a heaviness akin to that. SInce then, I have been defecating a lot more than usual, though it looks normal. I feel fine otherwise save for the discomfort

Well, I found out what important organ is in that area, the one alcoholics should really worry about. I know my problem is that my being out of shape is interfering with my sleep; I know it feels fantastic to be able to go to sleep unassisted, and my drinking was intended to side step the problem without solving it.

But the bloated feeling in my liver area has caused me to schedule an appointment with my doctor, but the earleist I can be seen is next friday. So to tide me over, I have two questions.

1. As I am right now, if the discomfort stays steady, should I just wait the week, or should I do something sooner?

2. What is the likely cause of this? Is it my liver being fatty? Is it normal for this to stem from a single incident?

I had already set down the road of a healthier diet and more exercise; now I definitely will.
