My boyfriend has been suffering for the 4th day in a row with severe pain right underneath the sternum. It came out of the blue and he has never had this pain before. He has no other symptoms. No fever, no nausea, nothing serious. We have already been to the ER. All the bloodwork came back normal and his heart is fine. We also went to the doctor yesterday. he started taking prevacid and ceraphil. He just wants some pain relief...does anyone know what could be wrong?

  • I had the exact same thing years ago. I was told I have costacadritis(sic), which is arthritis right below the sternum. I was told I may get the same symtoms 2 - 3 times in my life. The pain did go away and I've never had it again

  • I had the same thing, and was told it was chostochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the sternum. It's treated with NSAID's like ibuprofen or Aleve and usually goes away in a week or two.
