My boy has been potty trained for years, then about a week ago he started having skid marks and going through underware like crazy. He seems to be holding it in till the last possible moment, then he'll have to sit down to hold it in a little longer. Then when he go's, he only goes just a little.

It's almost as if he is scared to go poo. Guidance???

  • Maybe he is worried about something, maybe at school?Sit down and have a chat with him and see if any thing is worrying him.Sometimes when children are worried about something, they tend not to go to the toilet or hold it in til the last minute!Good luck, hope this helped

  • There was a show about this on tv on like dateline or one of those other night shows... google and I bet you can find it - maybe it was dr. phil actuallythe good news is it won't hurt him physically to do that (he won't bust a bowel - i remember one of hte mothers was very concerned about that) the bad news is it can be a sign he needs a therapist... he could have had a bad incident you don't know about. Children who do this seem to be afraid to let go of their poo because they start feeling like it's part of them... best talk to a pro sooner than later

  • My son was exactly the same.I took him to the Dr .He gave him a mild laxative.Said it was that he had been constipated at one time & that it had hurt him.So was afraid to go.Also didnt like going to loo at school, preferred to bake it until he came home.Which all added to the problem. So we worked the laxative timing so that he always went at home.He was fine in the end.He is now 18 & still will not use the loos at college!!!!!!!!!!!
